An Dùn refers to Doune Castle, a historic Scottish medieval stronghold in Stirlingshire, which serves as the fictional Castle Leoch in the TV series Outlander. In the show, it is the seat of the Clan Mackenzie, and its exterior is featured prominently, appearing as the ruins in the 20th-century scenes and the inhabited castle in the 18th-century storyline. Doune Castle is a popular tourist attraction, known for its well-preserved 14th-century architecture and also for its appearances in other famous films and TV shows, including Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Game of Thrones.
